Back from my blog break
Where have I been? Last Thursday and Friday I was indeed off work. I woke up Thursday morning and decided it was time to tackle our spare bedroom. And boy did I. I ended up with 2 car loads to Good Will and 6 trash bags of junk to throw out. Getting that done was refreshing. I needed that. RJ and I are moving downstairs to that room. Dominic will take possesion of our current room leaving Mackenzie where she currently is. I think this will make for much better sleep for all involved. Dominic sleeps well (10-12 hours) when no one is around. That is a great thing. Starting this weekend we will move our furniture to our new location and get ready to paint and decorate Dominic's room. All of this stuff may take a few weeks to actually get done. I am really excited about it. Mackenzie is a little concerned about how we will hear her if she needs us. Not to worry she will be right above us and I am sure I will have no problem hearing her, but just in case, we have a monitor.
Friday morning was Grandparents Day at school. My Aunt S attended. It was so neat. The teacher handed out packets with questions for the kids to ask their Grandparent and then questions for the Grandparents to ask the children. Mackenzie had to draw a picture of she thought school was like back in the day. Now, my aunt is only in her 40's. Mackenzie drew a very big hill with my aunt standing at the bottom. Us parents served up bagels, doughnut holes, fruit, juice and coffee. It was fun. I am glad I attended. However, I forgot my camera.
I took Mackenzie and Dominic to this cool park Friday night. We had never been to it. There is a huge playground for the littler kids. It is all padded. Dominic fell about 10 times and not once got hurt. He liked the bigger play area though because there was mulch and he like to throw it.
When we were done and home there was a message from a lady who wanted our old crib. Her and her daughter came to get it but it would not fit in their car. We ended up taking it apart and delivering it. Where we had to go was in a very bad part of town. The people really had nothing to speak of except each other. There were three children. A 6 year old, 3 year old and 10 month old. The baby had been sleeping of the couch. I was so proud of my daughter! She gave her old tricycle to the 3 year old on her own free will. Plus she gave the 6 year old 2 jump ropes and a container of bubbles. She was proud of herself too. She has been learning about communities in school and helping others. After we left, we had a talk about what she did and I told her how proud I am.
Saturday and Sunday were pretty lazy. I took both kids swimming at the Y. This was Dominic's first time. I was worried about keeping his ears dry (he had tubes put in in February), but he found a spot he liked and plopped down for an hour in the same spot. Mackenzie gave him some toys and he had a blast. For Mother's Day Mackenzie gave me some bath salts that she made at school and a pretty little pin to wear. It is a wicker hat with flowers on it. We visited with my mom in the afternoon. We had a nice visit. I love my mom very much. Though I talk to her most days of the week, I wish we had more time to spend together.
Monday I went back to work. I can honestly say that I felt no better about being there this Monday than I did last. I have to do some serious soul searching about what to do with work.
Last night we had a family fun night at church. They had two of the big blow up jumpy things. Plus kids games and make your own ice cream sundaes. It was great fun.
Mackenzie and I just baked (pre-packaged) chocolate chip cookies. I am off to try one or two (or more).
Good night.
