Happy Birthday to my girl.
Today is Mackenzie's birthday and she took it all in stride. She lost a tooth this morning. She was so proud. RJ went out and bought breakfast for us this morning and then off to school and work. I left work early to go buy her brand new shiny bike. I took cupcakes and juice to school and stayed with her until the end of the day. I came home and cleaned my butt off. Still more to do tomorrow, but my little sister, K is here to help. She watched the kids while RJ and I went shopping for all of the food for the parties this weekend. Dominic came home with a fever and a cough. He had tubes put in his ears in Feb and they are draining. I am going to have to take him to the walk-in clinic in the morning. Mackenzie loves her new bike, but it doesn't have training wheels and I am going to have a sore back from trying to keep her from falling. When went up and down the driveway about 10 times tonight. We ordered in for dinner. Mackenzie wanted steak, so steak is what she got. She is now sleeping and I am thinking back to 7 years ago...
I had a relatively easy pregnancy, except that I puked my guts out everyday from beginning to end. In my 36th week I developed high blood pressure and was told to stop work and be on bedrest. I woke up the next morning with a hellacious headache and called the midwife right away. I was admitted to the hospital on a Monday. I laid there for two days on a magnesium drip (that stuff is wicked!) and something to soften my cervix. Tuesday night they started pitocin and sent RJ home to rest for a while. I called him two hours later to come back. I was absolutely miserable. He no sooner got back to the hospital at midnight and my blood pressure was through the roof again. They stopped the pitocin until Wedneday morning at 10. I started to think that I would be there forever. I steadily progressed, but was never in a whole lot of pain. My sister came to see us and ended up staying to support RJ. He had pretty much had no sleep in days. My mom came at 4:30 to check on us after she got off work. I told her as soon as she walked in the room that I felt the need to push. Up until that point, I had no real pain to speak of. The midwife came and checked and said, "lets have a baby, now". With three pushes, Mackenzie Leigh was born at 4:47 pm. She weighed 6 lbs 3 ounces and was 18 1/2 inches long. She had lots of dark brown hair and the prettiest blue eyes. She has been the light of my life. I love her more than words can say.
Happy Birthday Mackenzie...I love you.
