A brief (ya right) introduction to my family
I will share with you all how we came to be.
RJ and I met in September of 1993. We were both serving lunch at a retreat that we had both previously attended. I did my serving and went home. Didn't think much about it for a while. I got a call from this guy who introduces himself as "RJ" and he proceeds to tell me that he got my phone number from the volunteer list. OK - so he stole my number. We talked on the phone for a few months before actually meeting again. He lived 45 miles away and it was long distance to call. Our first date was in Feb 1994. I think we pretty much knew after our first couple of dates that things were going to get serious. We violated our Catholic beliefs and moved in together in the fall of 1995. We were married April 19, 1997. And the rest is history. Mackenzie was born April 29, 1998 and Dominic came 5 years later, September 6, 2003. We will celebrate our 8th anniversary in a couple of weeks. I love him very much and could not ask for a better husband or father to my children.
I have married into the best family that any women could ask for. My MIL is the neatest person I know. She gave birth to 15 children. RJ is #14. She has 37 grandchildren and the list keeps growing. She has 6 great-grandchildren and I know that list will only continue to grow. RJ has nephews older than he is. Some of his siblings are enjoying retirement and grandchildren while others are just starting their own families. Some of them live close and some live throughout the US. Though there are so many, they are close. We do family get-togethers and everyone pretty much knows everyone else’s business. I am thankful everyday that I am part of their family.
My family consists of 2 blood sisters, 3 stepsisters and one half sister. We are all close as well. My parents divorced when I was 9. My dad has had an on and off relationship with my sisters and myself. My mom was not prepared to be divorced with 3 young children. She put herself through college and worked full time to make a better life for us girls. I am so proud of her. My step-dad is everything we could have ever needed or wanted in a father. He is the greatest. My half sister K is 13. I was 18 when she was born and she is Dominic’s Godmother. Do the math and you will figure out how old I am. She is the neatest kid I have ever seen. She is a smart as a whip and the most caring Aunt to all 12 of her nieces and nephews.
I am sure more of my blog entries will have to do with my family and I hope this starts as a basis for how important my family is to me.
Good night to all. Hug your little ones.
